Metal Pass Jobs - A Site for Engineering Jobs

US recruiters and employers have found it more and more difficult to find right-fit engineers, while the engineers also have problem to locate the dreaming jobs. Current job sites are crowded with IT jobs or service industry positions, we as engineer are truly minority there.

Metalpass.com is designed by engineers and used by engineers. Under the suggestion and support of several recruiters we have created this engineering job site to have voice for engineers - for engineers only. Please visit www.metalpass.com/job for the engineering jobs.

Mill Diagnosis System (MDS) for Remote Access to Steel Mills.

This application is designed for Metal Pass consultants and other third party consultants to do the remote diagnosis and improvement for the steel mill automation system, especially the Level 2 models. With our powerful expert system and a full-range of rolling process models built in, the system not only save trips (international and inter-state) but also greatly improve the quality and efficiency of the work.

Steel Mill Design and Development Programs

Name :

Web-based roll pass design programs - AutoForm series

Description :

The AutoForm series of our roll pass design packages. With its full-automatic, easy-to-use features, user only needs to fill in basic operation parameters to the web form, and the system will run the loop for trial-and-error to design every parameter for you.

The trial-and-error design is done by automatic loops. The first circle of looping uses simplified formula to reduce design time, and the second circle of looping application applies full-scale models to guarantee quality.

Applications in this series consist of:

Round-Oval-Round
Square-Diamond-Square
Billet-Box-Square-Oval-Round
Billet-Box-Oval-Round

Features :

The trial-and-error design is done by automatic loops. The first circle of looping uses simplified formula to reduce design time, and the second circle of looping application applies full-scale models to guarantee quality.

Name :

Web-based roll pass design programs - FreeForm series

Description :

This series provides full freedom of trial-and-error design for the pass and groove parameters. For every trial, the system calculates spread, forward slip, roll RPM, and all other critical parameters. The applications consist of:

Round-Oval-Round (Up to 30 Passes)
Square-Diamond-Square (Up to 30 Passes)

Features :

Full-range of rolling process models, such as those with tension correction for spread and forward slip, are used. A great amount of field data, primarily from high-speed rolling block, were evaluated and applied to the roll pass design practice.

Name :

Temperature Profile during Rolling and Controlled Cooling

Description :

Temperature control is the center of the modern rolling process optimization in balancing product quality, formability and power requirement. This application uses finite-differential method (FDM) to determine temperature field over the rod cross section during rolling, water box cooling and controlled/free air cooling. See www.metalpass.com/cool.

Features :

Heat transfer coefficient model, strain energy calculation, temperature increase during rolling, temperature profile over cross-section and in the dependence of time

Name :

Web-based program for mill force and power calculation

Description :

This is to calculate roll separating force and rolling torque, power. Applications in this section consist of:

Round-Oval
Oval-Round
Round-Oval-Round
Square-Oval
Box-Box
Square-Diamond
Diamond-Square
Square-Diamond-Square
General Estimation

Features :

Projective contact area uses elementary slab method considering spread, pass sequence and fill ratio, etc. Mean strain is used alone the contact length to achieve high accuracy. Flow stress model is specifically developed for a wide strain rate range 0.05-500/s (applicable up to 3000/s).
Shape factor covers pass sequence, entry billet shape, contact, etc. During torque calculation, experimentally established model for lever arm ratio in each pass sequence is employed, besides the accurate calculation of the roll separating force.

Metal Resource Programs/Applications

Resource applications include metal dictionaries, flow stress, metal directory and metal patents, etc.

Name :

 Metal Dictionary

Description :

The Metal Dictionary consists of two dictionaries:

Tech Terms: This application provides explanation of metal technical terms (in English). It is a dictionary for the metal technical terms.

Translation: Technical terms can be translated among five languages (English, German, French, Spanish, and Italian), from one language to another.

Features :

For translation of metal technical terms among English, French, German and Italian.

Name :

 Flow stress

keyword :

flow stress, flow stress model, metal pass, power calculation, Hot Forming, Cold Forming, Steel, Ferrous Alloys, Nonferrous Materials

Description :

The Flow Stress application has model types as described below, each covers hot forming and cold forming for both steels and nonferrous metals.

  • Model F2: An accurate strain-stress equation for each given temperature and strain rate.
  • Model F2F3: An accurate equation for each temperature, which describes influences of strain and strain rate.
  • Model F2F3a: A simple equation for each temperature, which describes influences of strain and strain rate.
  • Model A: Describing influences of material, temperature, strain and strain rate in a single formula.
  • Model B: Modification to the Model A with more accurate strain factors.
  • Model C: Modification to the Model B with more accurate strain rate factors.

Features :

Most complete online collection for flow stress data and models. In the first phase over 1200 flow stress models are available. The partial models F2, F2F3 and F2F3a, which provide different sets of model parameters for different temperatures, deliver super accurate data. The full model A, B or C each provides a single formula for a given grade.

Name :

 Metal Directory

Description :

This metal directory contains nearly 1200 categories of metal related products and services, and totally about 36,000 records. Among the five category groups, user can select a category, then find a product/service in the Products page. Then the system will display a list of companies/institutions that provide the product/service. Category groups:

Metal & Product
Plant & Machinery
IT & Automation
Trade & Service
Steel Mills
Others
A-Z Listing

Features :

The largest directory in the metal and steel industry, with 36,000 records now! Usually three times as large as the steellinks.com.
