EAF Development Status and Tendency
New technology has vastly increased EAF productivity. Energy balance for an EAF is presented. Raw matenals and operating practices affect EAF efficiency and yield. Topics of central importance to raw material issues are discussed. One way to reduce load is to design the furnace to capture the waste gas heat in a scrap-filled shaft atop the roof. <Read in Full>
Direct reduction
Two processes predominate: Midrex and Hyl. Direct reduction can be seen that a steady growth in capacity and production. There are two major group of processes: Gas based and coal based processes. <Read in Full>

Smelting reductions
Smelting reduction is an alternative approach to iron making which uses coal to reduce iron ore in the forms of lump ore, pellets or fines to molten iron. It is the only alternative to the blast furnace. Smelting reduction processes also produce a liquid hot metal but without any dependency on coke. There is only one commercial process currently operating which is Corex. <Read in Full>
