Updates on Apr. 2011
Project
and Publication: Enhanced functions in these
two blocks, each was expanded into a virtual directory (metalpass.com/project;
metalpass.com/pub) with published papers posted and project
list and content expanded.
Chinese and other
Languages: Expanded Chinese language section,
improved user interface; created Germany language site and
Japanese language site, start of the sites in other 5
languages. Automatic translation with Google was eliminated
for all the languages.
Plan: A full-scale
expansion of Chinese language site. Besides translation a
portion of English content, English + Chinese form of articles
are planned, with Chinese words contained in the English
articles to make it easier for Chinese colleagues to read the
contents. Articles to be posted would be mainly from the near
20 papers published in the recent 3 years.

Supply:
Added worldwide Rolling Mills and Mill Equipment references on
mill engineering, and updated over 20 related pages. Earlier
introduction focused mill models development, roll pass and
Level 2, etc. only.

Multiple
languages:
Created icons and links for seven more languages in addition
to Chinese, using Goole site translation tool.
Supply section:
Created and enhances, with over 10 pages on mill Level 2
packages, wire rod mills and miscellaneous equipment.

section, created and continuously expanded to be a major
technology-intensive portion of this site.
Chinese language section
(metalpass.com/cn), created and continuously expanded, with
mill Level 2 projects introduced, and dozens of technical
discussion pages in Consulting section available in Chinese
(including those through Google instant translation service).
Updates July 2009
Sub_sites
for metalpass.com. Created over 100 websites to surround the
main site. Each site has its look-and-view as independent
website, with its own domain name. After clicking of about 28
pages the user will be led to the main site metalpass.com.

Metal
Dictionaries: For the Techterms, doubled
the number of the terminologies, from about 5,000 to 10,800.
Other online metal dictionaries, which have dozens to hundreds
entries each, only contain a tiny portion of the content in
the Metal Pass' Metal Dictionary. For both dictionaries (Techterms
and Translation), we have improved used interfaces. (Soon to
be uploaded).

Directory: Redesigned the interface;
Made descriptions available; Increased
entries from 36,000 to 50,000; Added Search
features; Added steel mill management contacts,
general contact information and information
search; Add the Process & Technology category
group, added and re-arranged product/service categories and
products/services, to increase products/services from about
1,200 to about 1,680. Now the Metal Directory, with its
user-friendliness and rich information, is truly a place you
can stay for your information. While maintaining sufficient
information for marketing personnel, we also collected very
rich technical information for engineers. Remember, this site
is designed by and for engineers.

Major updated
include the improvements in the user interface for
some sections, increased contents for the Metal
Pass Consulting section such as Metal Pass 108
Steel-Mill Related Projects, posted some newly
developed concepts (from six technical papers we
published in a month of time we arranged for
publication). Created over 100 satellite websites
to support this main site.
Created some starting pages for the new sections
such as Mill Level 2 remote supporting tool (metalpass.com/mds)
and Metal Pass Jobs (metalpass.com/job), etc.
